🎺 🎶 Known for a boisterous blend of funk, jazz, rock, and hip-hop, nothing short of seismic live “experiences,” and a whole lot of Southern charm, Big Sam’s Funky Nation might very well be The Big Easy’s best kept secret. No other place could birth such an undeniable, unpredictable, and downright unique collective.

Against the backdrop of Crescent City 🎭, the group released five fan favorite albums and quietly developed a devout following. Powered by jaw-dropping technical talent and uncontainable energy on stage, their performances have become the stuff of legend. Big Sam ensures you’re not just a part of the crowd, but “a part of the show dancing and singing along.” Beyond standout sets at the likes of Voodoo Music + Experience and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the boys have performed at Bonnaroo, SXSW, and Austin City Limits, to name a few.

The frontman personally draws on over two decades in the game, spanning everything from 300 shows per year during his days in Dirty Dozen Brass Band and gigs backing up Widespread Panic and Dave Matthews Band to recording and touring with Allen Toussaint and Elvis Costello.

🎷 Marion Meadows is a highly accomplished saxophonist, composer, and producer known for his signature smooth jazz sound. His journey to solo stardom began in the early ‘90s when his debut album hit big, launching him into the contemporary jazz spotlight. With numerous chart-topping albums, Meadows continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his smooth, soulful performances. He has performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in music, including Phyllis Hyman, Michael Bolton, The Temptations, Will Downing, and Chuck Loeb, among many others.

🎹 Keyboardist and composer Brian Simpson has built a remarkable career, from his early days performing with jazz superstars Gerald Albright and Norman Brown to touring worldwide with Janet Jackson. His big break came in 1990 when he joined legendary jazz musician George Duke, marking the start of a decade-long collaboration that also led to work with icons like James Ingram, Anita Baker, Dave Koz, and Wayman Tisdale.

🎶 Flutist and bandleader Althea Rene is a powerhouse in contemporary jazz, funk, and instrumental R&B, best known for her chart-topping hit In the Flow (2013), which reached #1 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz chart. Also known for her dynamic performances and soulful sound, Rene has become a global festival favorite, performing at renowned events like the North Sea Jazz Festival, Austin Jazz Festival, and Norman Brown’s All-Star Jazz Cruise.

🎸 For over 35 years, New Orleans-based rock band, Better Than Ezra, has been a force in alternative rock, delivering hit after hit and earning a spot on Billboard’s “100 Greatest Alternative Artists of All Time” and “100 Greatest Alternative Songs of All Time.” Their breakout single “Good” went multi-platinum and became one of the most recognizable songs of the ‘90s, cementing their legacy. But it doesn’t stop there—frontman Kevin Griffin is an award-winning songwriter, crafting #1 hits for Sugarland and Howie Day and collaborating with artists like The Struts and Moon Taxi.
