March 27, 1942: General MacArthur accepts Poland's War Order of Virtuti Militari Silver Cross, Fifth Class. The award was given by the Polish government in exile, in recognition of MacArthur's service to the Allied cause.

An incredible story about an incredible leader! AFR is pleased to be a supporter of this great Foundation!

MARCH 11, 1942: MacArthur and his family escape Corregidor aboard PT-41. He later recalled of that moment: "On the dock I could see the men staring at me. I had lost 25 pounds living on the same diet as the soldiers, and I must have looked gaunt and ghastly standing there in my old war stained clothes -no bemedaled commander of inspiring presence...I heard someone ask, 'What's his chance, Sarge, of getting through?' and the gruff reply, "Dunno. He's lucky. Maybe one in five.'"

Six days later he and his family reached the safety of Australia.

Founded in 1988, Armed Forces Reunions, Inc. (AFR) has planned thousands of military reunions in over 150 cities coast-to-coast. Thirty years of military reunion planning! In the 80s and 90s most were WWII and Korean War military reunions. Over the past 15-20 years we’ve partnered with many Vietnam War veteran associations and are now helping veterans from Operation Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan get started. When you plan a military reunion you need great hotel room rates so folks can afford to attend. You also need a big hospitality room 24/7 – where folks can reunite in a private setting. Get a professional on your side to guarantee an affordable event and a smooth operation. Whether a Navy reunion, Army reunion, Air Force reunion, Marine Corps reunion, or Coast Guard reunion - AFR will, at no cost, lead your military reunion to the most reunion-friendly hotels in the country. Comprehensive Services

Yellow Ribbon & DoD Events

In 2008 AFR, a Woman Owned Small Business, was awarded its first DoD contract to manage Returning Warrior Workshops (RWWs) for Navy Reserve Forces Command. AFR provides full life-cycle Event Planning and Logistical Support Services for the Navy Reserve’s program to assist Reservists returning from deployment in the war on terror. The federal government has consistently rated AFR’s performance as “exceptional” and AFR has been re-awarded the RWW contract multiple times. AFR has also provided event planning support to the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Public Affairs, managing the Air Force Public Affairs Professional Development Seminar, with a rating of “exceptional.”
