The Lake View Motor Speedway History Page on the website has officially been updated.

This update now features:
• Up-to-date Track Records across all divisions
• Track Champions from the Tripp Era (2018–Present) in all active divisions
• A complete All-Time Late Model Track Champions list from 1981 to present
• The All-Time Late Model Wins sheet — an ongoing effort to document every single Late Model feature winner in track history

This has been a major project built through thousands of newspaper archives, old scoring records, and historical research. The goal is simple — to preserve the history of Lake View Motor Speedway, recognize the drivers who built it, and make sure their accomplishments are never forgotten.

I truly believe that to build something successful, you have to understand where you came from. This is a big step toward doing exactly that.

That said, a disclaimer — this information is NOT 100% complete or perfect. There are still gaps due to missing or lost data over the years. You’ll notice some “Champion Unknown” seasons and races with unknown winners.

If you have any information, old results, photos, or records that could help fill in the blanks, it would be greatly appreciated. I want this to be as accurate and complete as possible, and any help goes a long way.

This isn’t just about the past — it’s about preserving the legacy of Lake View for future generations.

Take a look at the updated History Page below on the website under the Track Information tab and help us continue telling the full story. The All-Time Late Model wins sheet can be found at the bottom of the page by clicking the google doc link.

ON THIS DAY IN LAKE VIEW HISTORY — MAY 20, 1995

31 years ago today, Scott Bloomquist returned to Lake View Speedway and made history once again.

Driving the famous No. 18, Bloomquist captured his third straight Hav-A-Tampa Shootout Qualifier victory at Lake View in front of a packed crowd during what was, at the time, the richest event in track history — the $10,000-to-win Hav-A-Tampa II Shootout.

The 1995 article details Bloomquist charging to the front after tire wear became a major factor throughout the race. After changing motors before Saturday night’s feature, Bloomquist said tires proved to be the key to the win as he tracked down Ed Gibbons and took control late in the race.

The 1994 article highlights Bloomquist’s previous Lake View Hav-A-Tampa victory, where he thrilled fans with daring outside passes and survived one of the toughest fields of Super Late Models in the Southeast.

These races helped cement Lake View Speedway as one of the premier dirt tracks in the Carolinas during the golden era of dirt Late Model racing.

For over 30 years, the Hav-A-Tampa Shootout stood as the highest-paying event in Lake View history at $10,000 to win.

That record will officially fall later this year.

On Labor Day Weekend — September 5th — the Edwards Family Memorial featuring the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series will become the richest race in Lake View Speedway history, paying $12,000 to win.

And the action continues this weekend at Lake View Motor Speedway.

SATURDAY, MAY 23RD
Lake View Late Models — $2500 to Win
Street Stocks — $1000 to Win
Full racing program featuring six divisions of racing action.

Come experience the next chapter of Lake View history as we continue to celebrate 45 years!
