One year of Caravan Farm & Kitchen 💃🏼🪩🕺🏻
So much planning — and then breaking the plans. So much building, brainstorming, creating, cooking, serving, lifting heavy things, learning, failing, succeeding, growing and failing again. Blood, sweat, tears, raking, digging, measuring, folding tarps, remeasuring… and so much freaking raking. So much patience I could scream. Broken hands, sprained elbows, sore backs, and countless moments of realizing we had no idea what we were doing, but doing it anyway.
This year we catered 14 events, hosted our first pop-up dinner that sold out, sold and donated produce that we grew ourselves. We started a hot food booth at the Newport Farmers Market that’s been selling out almost every weekend. Oh, and we turned an old pasture into a farm. We created jobs for ourselves. We get to feed people, make genuine connections, and build something that feels meaningful.
We moved to a new city to start this business, knowing nobody, and somewhere along the way, we built a community here in Newport.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this little business run by two very sleepy farmer-chefs. What we’re building feels exciting and terrifying. It feels like we’re exactly where we’re meant to be.
