It’s growing season here in our little corner of the world, and we’re sharing stories from the farms and growers behind our ingredients.
First up: Big Table Farm Cooperative, where Mary Kate is farming on soil built over generations.
More than 100 years ago, farmers on Wooden Shoe Hollow Lane hauled vegetables downtown by wagon, then returned from Cincinnati’s stockyards with hog manure to replenish the fields. They didn’t call Cincinnati “Porkopolis” for nothing.
That practice helped build the rich, nutrient-dense soil still visible today. Through careful stewardship, Farmer Mary Kate continues the long tradition of giving back to the land.
