Today I get to celebrate my beautiful friend Jenn at her bridal shower! I’m beyond excited to photograph her wedding this October.

Jenn is truly one of the most amazing people I know—and I’ve been lucky to call her a friend for over 25 years. She’s been there for so many monumental moments in my life, including being the birth photographer for both of my boys. Now, it’s my turn to capture her biggest milestones, and I couldn’t be more honored.

Here’s to celebrating you today, Jenn—and to all the joy, love, and memories still to come.

Watching people grow up through my lens is one of the greatest joys of this job.

I’ve been photographing Caleb’s family for 10 years, and it has been such a privilege. Just last month, he graduated from the Newport News Police Department Academy, and naturally, we had to mark the milestone with a session at Newport News Police Headquarters.

It was extra special to have Hope join us for part of the session—her first time in front of my camera! The connection these two share was such a sweet thing to capture.

Caleb, congratulations on your graduation and your next chapter in service. I’m so proud to have documented this moment for you.

Sometimes it takes a minute to warm up to a new face—especially when that face is behind a big camera. And that’s totally okay.

When little ones walk into a session, I meet them right where they are. Whether that means silly animal sounds, a game of peekaboo, or the magical power of bubbles, I bring out the smiles one giggle at a time.

Mallory? She lit up the room in her lavender dress and gave us pure magic once the bubbles floated in.

Creating comfort is part of the magic—capturing joy is the rest.

When I go quiet on social media, it’s never because things are slow—it's because I'm in full-on go mode!

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind: jam-packed with sessions, client consultations, new prop purchases (and a little DIY magic), and one of my biggest annual travel jobs. I even stepped in front of the camera for a branding session of my own!

Time slow down—my oldest is officially a 5th grade graduate!

I photographed the promotion ceremony at David A Dutrow Elementary School, but I knew we had to go out for his "graduate" portraits too. We headed to City Center at Oyster Point in Newport News, where he rocked his custom class shirt, cap and gown, and that signature curly hair with all the personality in the world.

Silly glasses, balloons, confetti (yes, vacuumed up before it blew away), and the graduation lei made by me—we brought all the fun to this milestone moment. I can't believe middle school is just around the corner.

These are the kind of memories worth capturing. Owen, we’re so proud of you.

We took Lacey’s cap and gown portraits in one of the most beautiful hidden gems in Richmond—Pump House Park in the Byrd Park District. Surrounded by history, trees, bugs and sunshine, it was the perfect place to celebrate this Louisa County High School senior.

With flower crown and denim jacket that felt so perfect in the surrounding nature. These portraits captured everything I love about Lacey: gentleness, silly personality, and the light and friendliness that is brought to the whole world.

The Class of 2025 is lucky to have my awesome niece.

More about Pump House:
The Victorian Gothic treasure that is the Pump House is located in the Byrd Park District
It was designed and constructed in the 1880s under the leadership of the great Richmond city engineer Col. Wilfred Emory Cutshaw.
The downstairs contained a water-powered pumping station, while the upstairs featured a large open-air pavilion that hosted lavish events and dances until the mid-1920’s.

There are so many styles of headshots, each with a different purpose—and this one was for something extra fun! Kerri needed a headshot for her musical theatre class, and I was thrilled to create a look that matched her vibrant personality. I've had the joy of photographing her over the years, and it's always a treat to see how she's grown.

This week, I’m spotlighting local favorite— The Captain's Den, located right in the heart of the Christopher Newport University campus.
