A jaw-dropping drive out to the "Skyfall" film location - a first for all of us. ๐Ÿ˜

Yes, there are 24 photos and short video clips, which is kind of a lot, but mygosh! Every breathtaking second....the Scottish Highlands...the countless waterfalls ...the mist and rain. All of it ๐Ÿคฏ

When our ferry arrived back on the mainland of Scotland, one of my favorite faces was there to greet us -- my sweet friend, HENRY! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

We first met Henry back in 2015 as our coach driver for my first-ever group 'Outlander' tour, and he quickly became part of the family. There is truly no better coach driver in all of Scotland. I'm not kidding! Aside from the one time I "cheated on him" (as he calls it ๐Ÿคฃ) in 2016, Henry is my one and only coach driver Every. Time. He's that good!

Anyway, we said our farewells to the rest of the R&R group, and Judy, Henry, and I set out for our 3rd leg of this epic Novel AdvenTOUR...the North Coast 500.

First stop: Falls of Falloch (I told you I had a thing for waterfalls, aye? ๐Ÿ˜)

I had been to this one back in 2021, but, if you can believe it, Henry, who has lived in Scotland his entire life (and driven probably every square mile of it), had not. In fact, we turned him into a hiker This go 'round, so he got to see all kinds of places that he's only ever driven other people to. ๐Ÿฅพ

So, it's time to leave the lovely Isle of Arran, but before we go, I wanted to share a grouping of random photos from our time there.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good waterfall hike, and this one checked that box! ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Glenashdale Falls on the Isle of Arran was just challenging enough to get our blood pumping, but not enough to kill us. And the payoff! Wowzers was it worth every bit of effort, and then some! ๐Ÿ˜

We pushed past that, and hiked a little further upward and were rewarded with a bonus -- Giant's Graves! ๐Ÿชจ๐Ÿ—ฟ

What a perfectly perfect day for a hike, too. ๐Ÿ˜„

Sea Kayaking. Lynn and I were both nervous about it, and almost backed out after our group was nearly part of a rescue a couple days before. But we prayed and then took that courage with us to the excursion, and boy are we glad we did it! ๐Ÿ›ถ

Yes, it was rainy, but we were already in the water, so no big deal. We didn't fall in, and that's what we were most worried about. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

We saw a seal up-close and personal. He was watching us closely and even got playful. He was so freaking adorable I just wanted to hug him! ๐Ÿฆญ

Our guides did a great job keeping us safe while also giving us a thrilling experience. Would I do it again? Yes. Would I still be a bit nervous, and maybe even a little scared. Also yes. But that's how we actually LIVE life, right? ๐Ÿ™

So, Lynn and I spent a leisurely morning at the Arran Museum of Country Life, while Michele, Judy, and Jenny went to a farm on the other side of the island to have an up-close and personal experience with the animals. ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿฆ™

Then, later that evening, we all enjoyed a delicious meal at a local restaurant called Salt and Thistle. Highly recommend! Great views and great food! ๐Ÿ˜‹

My last post showed our RIB ride out to the Holy Isle, so now it's time to get our boots on the ground. ๐Ÿฅพ

This little island, just off the east coast of the Isle of Arran, was settled by a Catholic monk back in the 6th century. His name was St Molaise (pronounced Mo-lash), and the story goes that he is the first to bring Christianity to Scotland, but I think there may be a slight mixup. St Columba - another monk who came over from Ireland and settled on the Isle of Iona in 563 is who I always understood as the one credited with introducing Christianity to Scotland. St Molaise wasn't even born until 566, so I'm sticking with Columba. โ˜บ๏ธ

Interestingly, the religious sect who are settled on the island today are Budhist monks, and it is used for religious retreats.

In any case, we thoroughly enjoyed our explorations, seeing goats that look like sheep, and sheep that look like goats. Super-cool fact: those goats (the brown ones) are as close to the original DNA as possible. Meaning they are pure bred and have never been mixed with any other breed.

We found St Molaise's cave (after first finding Lynn's cave ;) ), the Holy Well (Judy and Lynn both drank from it), saw several giant Budhist rock paintings, rutting sheep, and walked as far as the trail allowed to one of the light houses. Then we walked back and met up with our friends who spent a leisurely afternoon exploring the gardens and enjoying the views.

And then dinner and drinks. ๐Ÿ˜„

Perfect day. โœ…๏ธ
