Let’s address the elephant in the room: the rain plan ☔️
I can’t stress this enough—you must like your venue’s Plan B. If you don’t, and the universe has other plans, you could be left with ceremony photos (and memories) that don’t reflect the day you envisioned.

And beyond the photos, it’s about logistics and guest experience. A solid rain plan means thoughtfully prepared layouts, design options, and seamless coordination. Crossing your fingers isn’t a strategy.

Here’s the truth: no venue is perfect. The key is deciding which imperfections are minor… and which are deal-breakers for you.

Finding your venue is often the hardest part of the planning process. It sets the tone for everything—from the overall vibe and design aesthetic to the guest experience. And almost always, there’s one thing you don’t absolutely love.

Before you even begin site visits, create a must-have list with at least five non-negotiables. Think: estate setting, waterfront views, a strong rain plan, a spacious dance floor, or proximity to hotels with room blocks.
