An end-of-August wedding at Casi Cielo Vineyards in Camarillo, surrounded by rolling vineyards and the warmest Southern California light.

There’s something especially beautiful about late-summer weddings here. The long golden evenings, the warmth in the air, and that soft light settling over the vineyard as the day moves into night.

A celebration that felt both effortless and intentional, with so many thoughtful moments woven throughout the day.

And a cake cutting that ended with both of them smashing cake in each other’s faces! A tradition I don’t see nearly as often anymore, and one that felt very fitting for these two.

It’s always the details that pull me back into a gallery.

Not because they’re “just pretty,” but because they’re often the most intentional pieces of the day.

The paint swatches turned seating chart. The carefully chosen textures. The stationery, florals, and little design decisions that quietly tell your story before anyone says a word.

This wedding at Millwick was a reminder that the smallest details often carry the biggest personality. They set the tone, reflect the couple, and create a visual thread that ties the entire day together.

The details are so important! Not just because they photograph beautifully, but because years from now they’ll remind you of the thought, creativity, and excitement that went into creating a day that felt entirely your own.

I’ve been revisiting some old galleries lately, and it’s reminded me of something I think every photographer needs to hear:

You don’t need to upgrade your gear to level up your photography.

Looking back through these images has made me pause and remember why I took them in the first place. The intention behind the composition. The feeling I wanted to preserve. The tiny decisions that transformed an ordinary moment into something that felt alive.

Sometimes it’s a tighter crop that brings you closer to the emotion. Sometimes it’s a dutch angle that adds a little tension or movement. Sometimes it’s intentional motion blur that helps the image feel the way the moment actually did instead of just how it looked.

For me, post-production has never been about “fixing” a photo. It’s where I get to finish telling the story. It’s where I lean into the emotion, the nostalgia, the warmth, and the fleeting moments that made me press the shutter in the first place.

As photographers, I think we can get caught up chasing the next camera body or lens, believing that’s what will elevate our work. But some of the biggest growth comes from slowing down, studying your own galleries, asking yourself why an image works, and refining your eye, not your equipment.

The camera captures the moment.

Your vision is what makes it unforgettable.

The light shifts, the energy evolves, every love story feels different.

lighting: i like to start thirty minutes before sunset. that way, we can catch both the sunset and that beautiful dusk sky during your session.

what to bring to your engagement session: anything that is unique to you! this helps your photographer create a story. this can set apart your photos and add so much meaning and storytelling 🤍

another thing you might want to bring to your engagement session is a bouquet! it’s nice to have something to hold if your hand placement tends to lean awkward. it happens to the best of us!

most importantly: your engagement photos are an investment. you should be equally investing in yourself! get your hair done, get your nails done, buy the outfit, get professional makeup, whatever makes you feel the@most comfortable in your skin!! your hands and face are the focal point of almost every photo.

Never did I think I would venture into the maternity photo niche, but hey. These are just too good not to share. I have had the absolute pleasure, of photographing Morgan and Josh’s engagement, wedding, and now maternity photos..! Nothing better than a repeat client who trusts you with documenting every major life milestone. We also love a neutral color pallet and some cowboy boots. Especially up against the stunning backdrop of Mount Boney!

As tempting as it is to leave these photos to speak for themselves, there’s a fun little backstory! These two have a parent who works in film and television. Not to mention, our future groom here, AJ, is a stuntman! How cool is that? Due to their connections, we were able to score the Canyon Ranch Film Location for their engagement photos. We arrived and were already chasing light, but we got soooo lucky. A show being filmed up at the top, would have stopped us from being able to shoot on top of the hill. But their shoot day wrapped early! We were carted up to the very top, and caught the sun just before it set behind the mountains. It was just beautiful. AJ in all black, against Olivia’s elegant white dress, was the perfect choice to make them pop. They came prepared with a bouquet, champagne, and drum roll please … their motorcycle! Before the safety police come after us, AJ is a certified stuntman. 🤓 And thanks to working at a private location, these two wanted to spray champagne off the back of their bike. Who was I to tell them no? Olivia and AJ, I can’t wait for your wedding! xoxo ♡
