February 25th at 5:30 pm- a special evening edition of THE DUTCH TREAT CLUB
As many of you know, I am the Entertainment Chair of the legendary Dutch Treat Club which is made up of practitioners of the arts, i.e., literature, music, art, media, drama and dance. Meeting on Tuesdays for lunch between October and May since 1905, members and their guests are entertained and enlightened by an accomplished performer and an esteemed speaker.
On February 25th, we will have a special dinnertime meeting beginning at 5:30 pm and I'll be performing the songs of my very good friend, renowned Author/Broadway/Film/Cabaret Composer and Conductor, DAVID FRIEDMAN! 5 weeks after experiencing the devastating and unexpected breakup of a 15-year relationship, David was lying in bed one night, thinking his life was over, when an encouraging thought suddenly came to him. He realized that whomever he was going to meet next was already in the world, possibly even looking for him, and all he had to do was walk through his life and he would find love at the right time in the right place. David began interviewing couples of long-standing to find out how they met. Those interviews became a book called How They Met. (FYI, Garrett's and my story is included in this book!)
You will have an opportunity to buy the book and a CD of related songs after the evening. Whatever is going on in your life, whatever you are dreaming of, this should be an inspiring evening filled with laughter, love and encouragement. Don’t miss it! I will be singing several of David's beautiful songs, and his husband and our good friend, Rev. Shawn Moninger will also be singing one, as will David. Reservations are an absolute MUST as this is a private club, but will be open to the public for this event with reservations only. The cost is $52.00 payable by cash or check ONLY made out to 3 West Club which includes a fabulous 3 course dinner and a cash bar is available. Cocktail hour starts at 5:30 with dinner and presentation starting at 6 and going until 8 pm. We meet at the beautiful 3 West 51st Street, between 5th and 6th Avenue, NYC, in the WNRC.
