A few thoughts on an unusual job...

A Wedding Celebrant Re-Discovers ‘Feelings’: I’m comfortable doing weddings because they are never about me. I am never sharing myself out there, never exposing my flaws or being vulnerable; I’m conveying a couple’s story to their guests. I’m a messenger!

Between the four of us, we've officiated thousands of weddings, made tens of thousands of guests laugh, and heard Pachelbel's Canon in D 300,000,000 times.

Now and then, we get together to have some coffee, share some wedding stories, and compare notes on Broadway shows.

Whatever industry you may work in, I hope you take time to meet with peers outside of normal business hours (whatever that means; we have none). We learn, we commiserate, and we know we're not alone no matter what the industry throws at us.

Peter, Annie and Hope are among the best people you can meet. If you're looking for a professional officiant, please consider them. Unless you're considering me.

Yesterday my worlds overlapped in a beautiful way: Michela, one of my walkers on a tour, mentioned that she also officiates weddings, just like me, only she does destination weddings in Italy. Then she had me look up her Instagram to see photos of her Italian weddings...when I did that, I realized that I already followed her. And she realized that she already followed me. Then she asked, 'did you write a book?' I said yes, Best Ceremony Ever. She said, 'I bought your book.' And I joked, 'So you're the one!'

Such a small world. Two officiants meet on a walking tour. Love it.
