Founded in 1984 under the guidance and inspiration of the late conductor and tenor Chongmao Zhu, Chinese Musical Arts, Inc. Haiyun Chorus has been a New York State registered not-for-profit organization for the past 30 years. Its mission is to introduce the Chinese vocal music to the audience of New York metropolitan areas and, through various performances and vocal renditions, to create a better understanding of the Chinese culture, arts, and tradition.

Study and play music together! 🎢πŸͺ•

Learn to play the erhu, dizi, guzheng, p**a, percussion, or yangqin and experience traditional Chinese music and song in the community. Thanks to the continued grant support of NYSCA, DCLA, and the DYCD, adults and youth participants will receive free orchestra practice supervision, subsidized private and small group lessons and performance awards.

Participants will study and play Chinese folk and classical music alongside seasoned practitioners under the supervision of professional teaching artists. Weekly practice sessions free-of-charge are open to all ages at low-intermediate level and up. Participants should bring their own instruments and have sight-reading proficiency. Optional Instrumental Tutorials available at subsidized rates.
