A lot has changed since Gateway Dancesport Festival 2019. With the recent announcements by the NDCA and USA Dance, Gateway is trying to determine interest in Gateway Dancesport 2020.

Already looking forward to the next year?

Join us for Gateway Dancesport Festival 2020 on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Alhambra Ballroom in Harlem, NY. This is right around the corner from the renowned Apollo Theater and only blocks from the 2, 3, A, B, C, and D subway lines as well as the Metro-North - 125th St. stop.

The Alhambra was originally built in 1905 and became a famed ballroom hosting Big Band and Swing bands and dancers for many years including legendary jazz and blues performers such as Bessie Smith, Jelly Roll Morton, Frank Manning and Billie Holiday. It was refurbished and reopened in 2003.

Hi,

I hope that everyone is sleeping as I'm writing and sending this, since only crazy competition organizers should be up at 1:15 AM on a Wednesday/Thursday night.

This will probably be the last email before the comp; I hope that you are all as excited as I am about the first all inclusive, gender-neutral mainstream (i.e. not put on by a college team) competition in the States.

The schedule is posted (http://entries.o2cm.com?event=gdf,) I tried my best not to have anyone dancing as a solo on the floor. In most cases I succeeded, in a few I just couldn't make it happen. If you see anything egregious please let me know at [email protected].

It took a while, but the Saturday night show at Gateway DanceSport Festival has been finalized. In addition to Penelope Shvarts, playing a selection of Classical and Flamenco songs, we will have an Argentine Tango performance presented by John Hernan of Tango Dos, Martin Almiron, and Gardelina for a small taste of Porteño culture. Remember we will have a photographer on site to take pictures of the competition and Carly Mattox will be available for special requests, please ask her about her fees when you see her walking around with a camera.

There will be a practice floor throughout the competition and the ballroom will be open Friday night for anyone to come down and practice.

If you haven't paid please do so before the comp, PayPal is quick and easy.

We will be starting at noon on Saturday and at 10:30 on Sunday so there is no need for anyone to get up at the crack of dawn to get ready.

Come on out to the competition Saturday, see some wonderful dancing and enjoy a performance that is usually not seen at a Ballroom dance competition.

Can't wait to see everyone, dance well, and travel safely.

One week to go! Who's getting excited? I know I am! Hope that the last minute practicing sessions are going well, that the ballgowns, latin costumes, and tails are being aired out and getting ready to be packed, make-up and hair gels are bought and ready to go, all travel plans have been made, and if needed hotel rooms have been reserved.

Can't wait to see you all next week at the inaugural Gateway DanceSport Festival.
