The hardest part is knowing dogs can read our emotions. I don’t want Polo to see me sad. I want him to see me strong so he knows everything is okay and that he’s doing a good job fighting through this.
Today he walked into the room wagging his tail, and that felt like a huge relief. He seemed much more like himself.
We’re still waiting on bloodwork and updates, and we’re not out of the woods yet, but the numbers are moving in the right direction. The medicine is working, and clinically he’s doing better. More alert, walking around, sniffing everything, and acting like a dog again.
The goal is still to get him stable enough to come home and continue treatment there. I truly believe being back at La Casa, with coquito and his people, will help him heal faster. Every time I say casa his eyes light up because he knows that’s home.
I don’t usually share personal things like this, but I’m incredibly grateful for all the messages, prayers, advice, and support. It has helped more than you know.
Tomorrow is another day, and we’re staying focused on the positives. Thank you for continuing to keep Polo in your thoughts.
