A full-circle moment, celebrating a defining night for Caribbean music and culture on the beautiful twin islands I get to call home. 🇹🇹

Between the work I do through events, the way I observe and document culture, and the community I am now building, being in this room felt deeply aligned.

I found myself encouraging Lady Lava to keep going because I truly believe her gift has the ability to cross borders. Standing beside Alison Hinds transported me back to being six years old in my grandmother’s house in Pleasantville singing “Faluma”. And learning more about Shyne’s journey reminded me that dreaming boldly does not make you unrealistic, sometimes the vision simply arrives before the evidence does.

I met incredible people, made new connections and was reminded again that nothing happens by coincidence. When your dreams begin to resemble the life you once prayed for, it is not a signal that the work is finished. It is an invitation to steward the vision even more faithfully.

Above everything, this weekend reflected the glory and faithfulness of Christ. He has a way of connecting the moments, the people and the memories long before we understand what He is building.

And having my husband beside me through it all? This is what looks like: partnership beyond the celebration, and someone present to witness the becoming.

Yes, the flowers will be beautiful. The tables will be set. The details will be thoughtful.

But years from now, some of the images that will mean the most are the ones filled with the people who stood beside you, celebrated you, made you laugh, kept you calm, toasted to your love and probably caused a little trouble along the way.

Your wedding isn’t just about creating a beautiful day.

It’s about gathering the people who have been part of your story to witness the beginning of a new chapter.

Talk about a baptism into weddings.

An Indo-Nigerian Judeo-Christian Destination wedding was mine—and what an introduction it was.

Different cultures, traditions and faiths coming together taught me early that culture isn’t a theme. It’s personal, layered and deserving of intention.

Lets out a sigh… 😮‍💨 Back to sharing the beautiful events I’ve had the privilege of bringing to life.

A little reminder that these aren’t just pretty pictures.

They are stories. They are culture. They are celebrations, brands, ideas and intentions translated into experiences—and, most importantly, they are the labor of many hands.

At Yanie & Yael, we design for the modern couple, merging culture, love and thoughtful details. And as our work has expanded beyond weddings, that same philosophy remains: no two experiences should look the same because no two stories are the same.

Sometimes the inspiration comes from a couple’s heritage, how they met or the life they’re building together. Sometimes it comes from a brand’s purpose, the story behind a campaign or what they want their guests to feel when they walk into the room.

She paused…

Then answered:

“How much it humbles you.”

I couldn’t help but smile.

Because beneath every beautiful wedding is the quiet work of becoming.

Learning to listen.
Learning to apologize.
Learning to choose “we” over “me.”

Perhaps that’s one of marriage’s greatest gifts.

It doesn’t just reveal who we love.

It reveals who we are.

Humorous? Yes.

Sometimes the surprises of marriage aren’t found in grand moments.

They’re found in realizing that commitment changes how two people choose one another.

This page has always been home to my brides, my clients, their celebrations, and the work I have been blessed to create. And I want to make room for it to remain that way.

So, a little backstory on what’s next. 🤎

Last year, before attending my first Engage!, I began creating videos around culture and ceremony—conversations about weddings that went beyond what was beautiful and into what these traditions, moments and choices actually mean.

Then I went to Engage!. And somewhere in that experience, I knew I had stepped into alignment with something Christ had already been placing on my heart.

Beyond the Vows came shortly after.

I remember driving home one day and praying about what I could create that aligned with my purpose of strengthening and promoting the institution of marriage. And the Holy Spirit dropped a question into my spirit:

What’s one thing that surprised you most about marriage?

That one question became a conversation. And that conversation became Beyond the Vows.

None of this was created for clout. It wasn’t created because it was trendy, or even because I knew where it would lead. I’m learning to be obedient when God gives me something to steward. For me, it is Kingdom business.

And now, I believe it’s time to give these conversations a home of their own.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll begin transitioning Beyond the Vows, my Talks, and the stories and conversations surrounding culture, marriage, ceremony and the meaning behind how we gather over to Culture & Ceremony®.

Yanie & Yael will remain home to the beautiful celebrations, couples and clients we have the privilege of serving.

And Culture & Ceremony® will become home to the conversations underneath it all.

It was learning to embrace the unknown.

Thirty-five years later, he still believes marriage is discovering your spouse again and again.

The changes.
The conversations.
The quiet evolutions.

Then he said something I’ll never forget:

“The greatest joy I’ve come to recognize is the unknown in my wife.”

Perhaps that’s what keeps love alive.

Not believing you’ve figured someone out…
but remaining curious enough to keep learning them.
