Gemini & Scorpio Loft

Gemini & Scorpio Loft Woman-, immigrant- & LGBTQ-owned 5K sq ft private Brooklyn indie arts space w stage, lights, & sound

A woman-, immigrant- and LGBTQ-owned private 5,000sq ft event space in Gowanus, Brooklyn. We host both private celebrations and public ticketed events, and love working with under-served minority groups. With oversized windows and 11' ceilings, the space feels modern and open, while the newly exposed brick walls, wood floors and exposed-beam ceilings retain the classic New York loft vibe. Dependin

g on configuration, the Loft can fit up to 150 seated / up to 200 standing. The open space is divided into zones that connect to each other for a balance between flow and separation of purpose (stage & dance floor, lounge, bar) -- this helps it feel cozy with as few as 75 people. The Loft is serviced by a gender-neutral bathroom with three stalls (two are ADA-accessible). A permanent photo booth or gallery area is at the entrance, with a magnetic wall that easily accommodates backdrops or art. A 10'x20' catering kitchen is being built out in 2024, but a few elements (ice machine, triple sinks, refrigerator) are connected and ready for use. The Loft is particularly well-suited for events with live entertainment, with a full sound system & lighting grid, DJ booth, and 20'x4' dressing room with direct stage access. The 12'x15'x2' reconfigurable stage is made up of eight individual 3x8 platforms and a separate drum riser. Mood lighting throughout the space is via smart bulbs controlled by a house ipad, and can be entirely customized to each event. All furniture and tech gear can be moved into a custom configuration for your event, but the Loft is event-ready as is at all times. Accessibility: the Gemini and Scorpio Loft at 267 Douglass St is reachable by virtually all trains. It is on a third floor of a recently renovated industrial building, accessible via a 6x9 elevator. Any excuse to post this still, amirite? But really Pillion (2025) is the film pic for Sun’s Sinema Club, just one of the ways HoS is going all out for Pride month (makeout party this Fri is another, and full cal is on that profile & site). I cannot wait for the hotness.

We’ve been slowing down our regular themed costume event production, but are always happy to support total stupidity from those we love — in this case our trusty doorman Frank, who is throwing this party without so much as an Insta account. We got his back tho, so you know it’ll be a good time. Info is parked in our usual places, while Frank figures out whether he’s a “producer” with a “web presence” 😂

(Also, the HoS community is still going strong with 5-7 events each month. If you’ve ever been curious, best place to start is the open-to-all mixer, which just happens to be this Friday. It’s Pride, so you know we’re throwing down extra hard this month.)

Finally warm enough to make slutty goth fashion choices for Friday’s Dark DecaDance. What are you wearing?

The Zuckerverse couldn’t be more hostile to creators and art originating in the marginalized communities we try to support. They (and we) are under constant threat of losing their/our presence here. And since for some reason audiences still rely on the tech middlemen to get their event info, this removes power from the creators’ hands to make their voices heard. Yes, we all love the pretty pictures. But your primary way of connecting to us and those artists, if you want to support us, is via direct email lists.

We have two: one for this more vanilla acct that mostly reps the venue and the themed costume events we are known for. And one for that OTHER community that is all about bringing marginalized groups together, to have our flavor of uncensored fun together away from the technocrats gaze.

You know how this stuff works by now and where to find the info, right? Because even hinting at it will displease the algo-gods. If you don't know, feel free to ask.

You can also help by feeding the interaction machine.

As for the pic: go find that OTHER community to learn more (tho the Fb event itself exists on this Page's tab). Because you don’t want to miss this weekend’s fun.

Cannot wait to settle in for these lush visuals tomorrow: the legendary “Pink Narcissus” (1971), restored in glorious 4K for its 55th anniversary, screened for House of Scorpio’s monthly Sinema Club. One (initially unknown) man’s obsession, influencing generations of q***r visuals from Fassbinder to Pierre et Gilles/LaCapelle to Lil Nas X.

As an unbelievable bonus, , the journalist who originally found the creator James Bidgood and then wrote the book about him, will call in after the screening to chat about the movie with us.
