Yesterday, we remembered. Today, we reflect on what it means to serve our city.

On September 11, 2001, Chelsea Piers became part of New York City’s emergency response. Hundreds of employees volunteered—manning water stations, helping establish an emergency medical facility, and preparing and serving meals for thousands of first responders and uniformed personnel.

Along the waterfront, vessels docked at the piers to help transport thousands of people stranded in Manhattan across the Hudson River to New Jersey.

For those of us at The Pier Sixty Collection, these photographs are more than a record of our history. They are a reminder of the responsibility that comes with being part of this city and this community.

Twenty-five years later, the spirit behind those actions remains part of who we are: service, compassion, community, and showing up when it matters most.

We remember those whose lives were lost, the families forever changed, the first responders who answered the call, and the countless New Yorkers who stepped forward to help one another.

New York showed us what community means. We remain committed to carrying that spirit forward.

Remembering Gloria Steinem.

We were honored to welcome Gloria Steinem to Pier Sixty in 2009 for the 25th Annual ICP Infinity Awards.

Her extraordinary life and enduring voice helped shape generations, advancing equality and challenging the world to think differently. As we reflect on her passing, we’re grateful to look back on this moment from our history and to remember an icon whose impact will continue to be felt for generations.

Rest in power, Gloria.

Behind every unforgettable event is a team that makes it all happen.

Before another busy season of celebrations, we took a moment to celebrate the people who bring The Pier Sixty Collection to life every day. Our Summer Managers Appreciation Party was a chance to reconnect, recognize one another, and thank the leaders whose passion, teamwork, and dedication create exceptional experiences for every client and guest.

Here’s to a season of working hard, supporting each other, and creating unforgettable moments together. 💙

The Hudson isn’t just our view. It’s our home. This morning our team spent Pride at Hudson River Park’s River Project Wetlab on Pier 40, helping monitor the oysters quietly restoring the estuary just beyond our doors — cleaning, weighing, measuring, and learning how much life moves beneath the water we look out on every day.

Celebrating Pride together, on the river, doing work rooted in care and community. That’s who we are, in every color. 🏳️‍🌈🦪

Pride Month is a beautiful reminder that every family deserves to be celebrated, supported, and seen. 🌈

We were honored to welcome Family Equality back to Pier Sixty for another unforgettable Night at the Pier, bringing together more than 900 advocates, families, artists, and changemakers in support of LGBTQ+ families nationwide.

From inspiring honorees and Broadway performances to a surprise musical moment and an outpouring of generosity that raised $1.1 million, the evening reflected the power of community and the joy of coming together with purpose.

Thank you to Family Equality for continuing to create spaces where love, belonging, and advocacy shine so brightly. We are proud to host gatherings that help move important conversations forward and celebrate families in all their beautiful forms.
