As we head into our busy fall event season, we’re taking a look back at an event we had the privilege of working on this summer!

The 2026 NOAA EPP Biennial Education and Science Forum was a three-day event that brought together students, educators, researchers, and NOAA partners for learning, networking, and conversations around the future of environmental science.

Held at The City College of New York, this year’s Forum also celebrated 25 years of NOAA’s Educational Partnership Program, making it an especially meaningful event to be a part of.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, and all the lives tragically lost, PBP would like to recognize the Brooke Jackman Foundation, a charity partner we have had the privilege of working closely with for many years.

Brooke Jackman was just 23 years old when she was killed on September 11, 2001. A Columbia University graduate and passionate reader, Brooke had been accepted to graduate school to pursue her master’s in social work, with plans to dedicate her life to helping disadvantaged children. In the months following 9/11, her family and friends created the Brooke Jackman Foundation to carry that vision forward.

Today, 25 years later, the Foundation has given more than 1 million books and 125,000 backpacks to children in need through programs including Brooke Packs, Brooke’s Books, Brooke’s Cooks, and its After-School Literacy Program. More than 250,000 children have been reached through its work, helping them build confidence, develop a love of reading, and see greater possibilities for their futures.

This year, the Foundation celebrates its 25th Annual Benefit, taking place October 29 at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City. The evening will help support the programs that continue Brooke’s legacy and bring the gift of literacy to even more children.

Last month, we were proud to help bring Safe Passage Project’s The Path We Make: A Culinary Benefit to life at City Winery NYC.

The evening brought together incredible chefs, advocates and supporters and raised nearly $500,000 to support immigrant youth across New York City and Long Island.

Congratulations to honorees Pam Foster and Cowboy Bear Ninja, and to the entire Safe Passage Project team on another successful event. We were so happy to be part of it.
