You’ll find “Transport and Human Endeavor”, a massive art deco mural painted in 1930 by Edward Trumbull, gracing the ceilings of the lobby of New York’s iconic Chrysler building, sometimes overlooked by those more familiar with the famous exterior of the building than its interior treasures. Depicting industrialization and innovation in the early 20th century, the painting showcases the Chrysler assembly line, flanked by motifs such as airplanes, skyscrapers, and factory machinery. The mural was completed in 1930, and at the time was the largest mural in the world, spanning 78 by 100 feet. This size record was not the only one the building would hold, as briefly, from May 1930 to April 1931, the Chrysler building was the tallest in the world until the opening of the nearby Empire State Building.

Just steps away at Grand Central Terminal, another lesser known art deco masterpiece depicting similar themes by Trumbull is hidden, overshadowed by the much more famous ceiling mural in the terminal’s main hall. Tickets for the GGC Summer Series are now on sale!

Saturday’s throughout the summer, we will host two challenges to choose from. Decide to test yourself in the Central Park Sprint or via the Terminal Time Trial, or both!

Each experience lasts 1.5-2 hours, and will feature our signature immersive experiences, Cluemasters, and clever puzzles stashed in plain sight, but each challenge in the summer series has a more relaxed vibe. Great for a relaxing afternoon, families, or a first date (if you’re still unsure they’re right/GGC material).
