BTS: printing options + pizza crumbs = perfection. 📸🍕 Design meetings are always better with pizza. Thank you Motorino for taking such good care of us.

There’s a reason we're a little obsessed with color samples. ✨

Choosing a color is about much more than picking a pretty swatch. Color changes with natural or artificial light, surrounding materials, time of day, and even the texture of the fabric or finish.

That’s why color theory + physical samples are such an important part of the design process. What looks perfect on a screen can feel completely different in a real space.

Pulling fabrics, finishes, paint colors, stone, metals, and other materials together to see how they actually interact before making a final decision. Sometimes the smallest shift in tone is what takes a design from almost there to exactly right.

Good design is in the details—and sometimes those details start with a handful of samples on a table. 🤎 Lucky to have incredible vendors to work with such as Tish Miller Design & Interior Define

Meet our founder.

After years of building, advising, and shaping hospitality experiences behind the scenes, it’s finally time to put a face to the name.

Emily Ackerman is the founder and owner of Salt Shaker Consulting — a strategic partner to restaurants and hospitality brands looking to open stronger, operate smarter, and create event experiences that have lasting impact.

With a background rooted in operations, concept development, and guest experience, Emily has quietly been the force helping teams turn ideas into reality — from first sketch to final service.

Salt Shaker was built on a simple belief: great hospitality doesn’t happen by accident. It’s intentional, thoughtful, and built with the right systems in place.

This is just the beginning of sharing more of the work, the process, and the people behind it.

Welcome to Salt Shaker.

Life is sweet…even when we spill.

Running a business (or a few) can feel a lot like this—one second everything is balanced just right, the next you’re catching what you can before it hits the floor.

There’s beauty in the chaos though. The late nights, the constant calibration, the moments where you question everything and then do it anyway. Because building something of your own requires a steady hand—but also the willingness to keep going when things inevitably tip.

Here’s to the messy middle, the imperfect pours, and finding your balance along the way.

Thank you for helping us capture our vision for this beverage shoot for .
