Some couples dream of the big wedding—the beautiful venue, the packed dance floor, the people they love gathered around them.

And some couples want something much simpler: a courthouse ceremony, a few quiet moments together, and a photoshoot to document the beginning of their marriage.

Neither is better. Neither is more meaningful.

Throwing it back to one of the most unforgettable days I’ve ever photographed: an intimate Grand Teton elopement.

Something I’ve learned after 15+ years behind the camera is that the most meaningful images don’t come from perfect poses. They come from real moments.

The nervous laughs. The quiet pauses. The way you look at each other when no one else is around.

“I’m awkward in photos.”

I hear this from couples alllll the time— and honestly? Most of my couples are stepping in front of a professional camera for the very first time.

I don’t take that lightly.

That’s why my sessions aren’t filled with constant “put your hand here” and “tilt your head there” directions.

Instead, we move.
We walk.
We talk about your first date.
I’ll probably ask who said “I love you” first.
You’ll laugh at each other.
Maybe roast each other a little.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, the real moments happen.

The goal isn’t to make you look perfectly posed.
The goal is to make you feel like yourselves.

The beautiful photos come naturally after that 🤍
