so much gratitude to the beautiful souls of **Wisteria Root Productions** ✨

since june, this incredible feminist theatre company has filled our studio with rehearsals, devising, poetry, and pure creative fire 🔥 their work centers women's voices and reimagines the old tales so we finally hear from the women inside them... and we have felt that energy every single time they walk through our doors.

watching artists build something meaningful in our space is exactly why we opened studio shakti. this is what community looks like, and we are so honored they chose us as their creative home here in new orleans 💫

Coven Of The Articulate is over the moon to announce Karla Marie and Shimmy Shakti New Orleans performing at this year's Dark Gift ALLIANCE - The Thirst ball and social.

For the past 21 years, Karla Marie has captivated audiences across the U.S. as both a performer and teacher, sharing the beauty and cultural depth of Raqs Sharqi (colloquially known as Belly Dance). She has spent the last 18 years mentoring dancers of all levels and currently directs a vibrant local Shimmy Shakti Troupe of 20+ dancers—a beautifully diverse ensemble representing eight countries and celebrating the power of unity through movement.

Anoche, Las Fridas took the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana gala by storm. Thank you to Mayra Pineda and the entire Chamber for the invitation and for the beautiful welcome.
Mayra served as our judge for the Frida Lookalike Contest at Frida Fest, and the invitation she extended was to me as founder, along with our contest winners. That was her gift to them, an extension of the honor they earned on that stage and to recognize the efforts of our entire movement.
Las Fridas is bigger than any one night. There will be more rooms, more stages, and more chances to shine, and we will keep bringing you with us. This is what makes this krewe so special!
