The last of the best weekend! Gosh I have so enjoyed this trip back in time to relive a milestone moment in my career and the weekend that reaffirmed that I have the best community of vendor friends who will all do whatever it takes to manifest those giant smiles! The run on sentence was necessary to get out all my feelings, okay?! New Orleans, I just love all the wonderful parts about you that welcome my guests from around the world and coax them to let down their hair, drop their shoulders, bring that fork and drink to their lips, and just have the best time!!

One of the perks of destination weddings is that your guests are in for a treat all weekend long! After the rehearsal dinner, we welcomed all the guests the only way Nola knows how- with all the booze, a rocking DJ, and food trucks serving Cajun delicacies!

The night before- all painted baby’s breath and butterflies and rattan furniture!! Richie wanted to style the rehearsal dinner in a way that felt different than the wedding, but still cohesive in an album, and incorporated colored baby’s breath. But that’s all she gave us and let us run with the decor and surprise her on the day of the event! Couldn’t feel more honored when clients trust me like that! So by using the same colors as the wedding florals, plus quite the pop of mustard yellow, we designed this organic and refined rehearsal dinner at Race and Religious! Their private chef cooked a delectable meal, and the tequila was flowing! One of the things we couldn’t give Richie for the wedding was a butterfly release. So the wind up flying butterflies from became our place cards. After a lot of tears from sweet speeches, and at the end of the meal, everyone made a wish for the couple and released their own fluttery dreams! The perfect ending to dinner!

The last glimpses of the energy, the vibe, the emotion that went into this wedding day! I swear I was hooked to social media for weeks after the wedding replying to the comments and messages about how our live instagram content made strangers on the internet cry or have FOMO or smile ear to ear! That is what I live for! Designing a day so intentionally that even the outsiders feel it! I so vividly remember filming the end of the second line with tears streaming down my face in a corner (hope no guests saw me)! I was so exhausted, but also so filled with JOY and pride as they hugged each other, their families and had the absolute best time dancing to the horns blaring! Hope you’re feeling all the feels as we take you back down memory lane because I sure have been! So proud of this team!!

When the late night tequila cart pictures don’t even have the bottle because 14 bottles got consumed in under 4 hours… and don’t feel bad for the ! It’s only still standing because we were able to snag a couple more bottles! Y’all this tequila man hunt was SERIOUS, but not as serious as this couple was about their tequila! We ended up sourcing Clase Azul, 1942, and Casamigos (amid a shortage) from 3 states, 8 different cities, 19 different liquor stores (yes, we kept track), and it still didn’t satiate the people! Anything for our couples!

After the decadent five course meal, the guests got down in this backyard turned chic lounge! What was once a brick paved courtyard nestled under the oak trees, now became a night club complete with chain mail walls, velvet ceilings, wood floors, chic banquette furniture, disco balls, and a neon sign modeled after their fave club back home ! A full throttle moment as the guests meandered from the sophisticated dinner to the freckles of the disco balls in the tent!

FLOW. An ever-present thought as I both visually and logistically design a wedding. How can I make the guests feel the most comfortable from the first seconds? Which translates to the guests having the most care-free fun. Which translates to the BEST, feel good weddings! Create an environment that answers any unasked questions, that gets drinks and bites swiftly in their hands, and also gives them a photo op for their gram! Keep it simple and the joy on their faces will be the ultimate reward!
