We are beyond honored to announce that legendary bassist George Porter Jr. will be a featured guest at the 2026 New Orleans Beatles Festival for his very first appearance on the Beatles Fest stage!

Widely regarded as one of the greatest bass players of all time, George’s influence stretches far beyond New Orleans. In fact, Sir Paul McCartney has referred to George Porter Jr. as one of his favorite bass players ever—high praise from the man who helped redefine the role of the bass guitar.

As a founding member of the iconic Meters, George helped create the unmistakable sound that became the foundation of New Orleans funk. Classics like Cissy Strut, Look-Ka Py Py, and Fire on the Bayou influenced generations of musicians and shaped the sound of modern funk, R&B, rock, and jam bands around the world. His innovative grooves, melodic bass lines, and unmistakable feel have made him a true ambassador of New Orleans music.
