Last August, we packed the theater at SCSU. 150 of us came together to talk about wealth, identity and power, and the conversations haven't stopped since the room cleared.

Thursday, August 13, 2026, we reconvene—a community ready to shape what comes next, with deeper programming and alongside the 5th Annual Black Wall Street Festival.

We’re hosting a game night in partnership with ConnCORP and Long Wharf Theatre.

Inspired by IMAGINATION: A Playbook by Dr. Ariana Braizer, we’ll use imagination-based games to explore the ancestral, spiritual and liberatory themes woven throughout August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean—all while centering joy and community.

We will move, reflect, snack and create together during a two-hour experience that blends storytelling, play and ritual.

Whether you’re familiar with Wilson’s work or experiencing it for the first time, Griots, Gems and Games offers an accessible, vibrant introduction to questions of truth, memory, justice and healing.
