Brikene Grajcevci took a much-needed break from packing and moving, to get into a mindset of envisioning and creating at Trash to Fashion’s annual workshop & ball.

A delightful night under the eaves of the Eli Whitney Museum & Workshop Barn. With a fascinating designer chat in the Carter Studio afterward, led by Catherine Shen, host of CT Public Radio's "Where We Live." She really gets our zero-waste ethos and brought it to the fore in the conversation.

Many thanks to Abiba Biao and The Arts Paper for the wonderful, holistic coverage of Rescued Runway: fashion blooms from the discarded!

Our first workshop of 2026… where Kat Wiese and Tea Montgomery at Eli Whitney Museum & Workshop…✨✨✨🔥✨✨✨
taught us to transform textiles with block printing and sewing. (Teens also attended the workshop, but are not pictured here.)
Following Tea’s instructions, our participants sewed a Japanese Knot bag from rescued upholstery fabric. With Kat, we carved designs into blocks, then printed them onto the bags and garments we brought from home to refresh.
