I think this is what you would call a "well hydrated flower"! Fresh bouquets are being delivered to this evening just in time for New Brighton Night Mart! It's going to be a beautiful night to stroll through town!

Efficiency. That is my theme for this growing season. One of the ways I tried to accomplish more efficiency in the garden was to install an irrigation system. As a result, Mother Nature has decided to bless us with a bunch of rain.

It was hard to get in the garden between rain drops this weekend but that didn't mean I wasn't garden planning. I spent the rainy days with a cup of coffee and a notebook. Analyzing my spring growing choices - what am I loving, what am I not growing next year, what is missing that I don't want to skip next year.

I'm hoping that spending the weekend creating a growing plan before I see all the beautiful options in the seed catalog is more efficient than my irrigation system is currently!

I have been playing a fun little game of "what in the world is this seedling".

It is volunteering all over the garden. At first I thought squash, maybe pumpkin, could be watermelon. None of these seemed quite right. I finally figured it out! Now I'm wishing I didn't w**d out quite so many. Do you know what it is? I'll leave the answer in the comments! 😁

This may not look like much now, but come back to this in August and it will be a different story. Some of the first dahlia sprouts are popping their heads through the soil.

It's said that the best things don't last. I think they were talking about peony season. These huge, decadent blooms are only available for an incredibly short time each year.

Full of ruffles and frills, peony bouquets have arrived ! Don't wait until 2026 to get your fill of peonies.

🚨 PEONY ALERT! 🚨 Peonies arrive tomorrow morning. Trust me, you will kick yourself for missing out!

The flowers are ready for some sunshine and so am I! I am seeing some of the first snapdragons blooming. Their dark stem and burgundy blooms are blowing me away! Definitely added to my "must grow" list!

Ahhh. Peonies. In the language of flowers, they symbolize love, happiness, romance, and beauty. I think this is a perfect description for a show stopping spring flower.

It's Friday! That's reason enough to celebrate but this Friday is extra exciting! All of the seedlings are in the garden! Planting will continue through September but it's nice to have the spring push checked off the to-do list.

I would love to hear what flowers you are most excited to see this season.

Many specialty flowers that I use in bouquets got their start from very humble roots. This is meadow buttercup. Some might call this plant a medicinal herb, used to treat headaches and skin irritation. Some might call this a w**d. Meadow buttercup has been carefully manipulated since the 16th century to produce the flower we now know as ranunculus.

I like order. I like planning and predicability. Farming alongside Mother Nature gives me none of those things. Mother Nature likes chaos. Mother Nature likes wild weather patterns and always keeping me on my toes.

It's funny the little ways Mother Nature likes to remind me that she's in control. This year, I installed an irrigation system to help me water more frequently and more efficiently. So of course Mother Nature sends lots of beautiful, gentle, and frequent spring rains!

My veggie planting schedule is a month behind. My garden plan has been obsolete since the very first row I planted, but the opportunity to be a part of the magic of watching beautiful things grow, that's what keeps me coming back for more.
