Please stop blatantly lying to the food trucks you want at your event.

If you say there's going to be 400 people there these food trucks need to see 400 people there not 40. It's just really not right.

We spend hundreds of dollars getting everything prepped and then we go to your event and we lose a lot of money. Please stop doing that to food trucks in the area. Just be honest and the food trucks will continue to come to your events!!

Book a food truck that has been in the industry for at least 3 to 4 years. Always ask how long a food truck has been in business before you book them!! New food trucks have a tendency of overbooking themselves because they think they can do it all, then they find out the hard way that they cannot and they cancel their events last minute. From my experience a food truck that has been in business less than 2 years has no idea how this business actually works. Book a food truck that has been in business a long time and you will not be disappointed!!

Lesson 4: HELP THE FOOD TRUCK THAT YOU BOOK!
They are Helping your business! Keep in constant communication with that food truck prior to the event, Set out Parking Cones prior to the event, Clear the cones when you see them coming to your event, and the Biggest thing I would say is "Be nice to them". Food trucks work very hard behind the scenes to make "Your Event Amazing"!
When you book a Food Truck please keep this fact in mind. Statistically, If there is Food available at your Wine/Beer Bar/Block Party/Private Event/etc.. The Customer will stay 52 minutes longer (It is a proven fact). That means they will have at least 1 to 2 more glasses of Wine and/or Beer.
Please take care of the Food Trucks and they will take care of you!!

Lesson 3: Food Trucks build clientele by going to an event/community on a consistent basis.

(For Example), If you book a food truck to be at your location the 2nd Wednesday of every month and that food truck has been coming To that location consistently for three+ yrs, They have built a clientele. People expect that food truck to be there that day. They literally plan their Lunch/Dinner around that particular food truck. If you (The planner/coordinator) just up and cancel the current food truck and bring in a brand new food truck that no one has ever tried before, You could potentially upset the people that eat off of that Truck consistently. Please be mindful of that. You are always better being consistent for the people that go to that event or live in that community. Booking a food truck is not about the 1 person booking the event, it is about the people that will attend that event!!

Lesson #2: Social Media. PLEASE READ
When trying to book a food truck through social media it is very important to ask yourself and answer these questions:

-Location
-Date
-Time
-Type of Event
-How Many People Expected
-Fees/Donations Required
-How Many Other Food Trucks
-What Type of Food Truck Needed

If you answer these questions (TRUTHFULLY) you will have a greater response from potential food trucks! If you say there are going to be 500 people there and you book five food trucks but only 75 people show up, those food trucks are going to lose a lot of money and they will never want to book an event with you again. They will also tell all of their other food truck friends not to book events with you as well.

Think about this: If a food truck spends $300 on food/supplies for your event, $85 on propane for your event and $50 on gas to get to your event and to run their generator, their total investment in your event is $435.00. They need to make at least double that ($870.00) in order to make some sort of profit and pay their employees.

Remember This: A Food Truck is a Business. Businesses need to make some sort of profit in order to continue running. Please be honest and respectful to all Food Trucks. They work very hard in order to provide fantastic food and a great service to you and your event.

A food truck is a business! They have overhead and bills just like every other business in America. The main difference is, They are on wheels and "CAN" go to your location instead of you coming to us. That being said, when you book a food truck to come to your Event/Location there are several questions that you need to ask yourself AND tell the prospective food truck... More TIPS/INFO to come in the next post. If you can't wait and you have questions feel free to private message, email or call. Please do your due diligence and help us food truckers succeed!!
