We are thrilled to have MelodiuS on our William St stage sponsored by Explore New Bedford

Meet Scott Whiting , aka MelodiuS, a newcomer to the music festival scene! Born in Boston and raised in Randolph, Scott grew up on the bassoon, an instrument he fell in love with as a toddler. When he went to UMass Dartmouth to study music performance, he got acquainted with various wonderful musicians in the New Bedford area, including Christian Camarao, whom he played for on numerous occasions, including albums and shows. While MelodiuS has written a few original compositions during college, 2026 marks his first attempt to commit to songwriting. During his free time, Scott makes artwork on and posts his musical compositions up on .

NB Roots and Branches is excited to welcome Richard D. Lewis to the The Vault Performing Arts Center & Pub- Pubside sponsored by Fiber Optic Center for our 2026 festival taking place on July 18th 2026!

Richard D. Lewis is an artistic late bloomer whose music emerges out of the Folk/Americana tradition. His original songs contain a sharp political edge reflective of his past involvement in the protest
movements of the 1960's and related struggles continuing into subsequent decades. These life changing experiences set a solid foundation for his current dedication to issues of human rights and social justice, including abuse suffered by psychiatric victim/survivors. Richard once wrote and performed a few "protest songs" in the early 1970's, but left his guitar and songwriting idle for multiple decades. However, semi-retirement in 2015 led to a renewed inspiration and a total re-immersion back into fresh contemporary musical endeavors.

Richard follows a mantra of "Making Music to Change the World," but insists that those efforts must avoid an "agit-prop," or politically stilted style of writing and performing. He believes that the very best artistic creations are those that are truly "higher than life," and nurture the very best inclinations of the poetic and
compassionate human spirit. His music has also been influenced and shaped by 25 years of counseling experiences in the south coast of Massachusetts, helping people whose lives have suffered from the violence of poverty and other various forms of trauma and drug addiction.

NB Roots and Branches Festival is very excited to present Pepe Bana on the stage located at Purchase St.

Pepe is a multi-instrumentalist equally skilled on violin, guitar, and cavaquinho as well as a singer, and composer. Born with the surname Martins, his deep and sonorous voice earned him the name "Bana," an allusion and homage to the late great Cape Verdean singer that came before him. Pepe brings deep roots from Cape Verde where he was born, new songs of his own to add to the tradition, and a beat that's guaranteed to get the crowd moving.

NB Roots and Branches is excited to welcome Lutchinha Music to the Symphony Music Shop stage at Purchase St for our 2026 Festival!

Cabo Verdean music, a blend of African and Portuguese influences, is a familiar sound in coastal New England. The region is home to large communities of Cabo Verdeans, who began immigrating to the area in the 19th century. Maria “Lutchinha” Neves Leite of Brockton, Massachusetts, arguably the finest Cabo Verdean singer to make her home in the United States, will delight audiences with the soulful sounds of this distinctive musical tradition.
