Sad news...

We are heartbroken to share the passing of Jeannie Seely β€” a treasured member of the WSM and Grand Ole Opry family.

From the moment she stepped onto the Opry stage in 1966, Jeannie brought a fierce sense of individuality, wit, and authenticity to country music. A Grammy winner, a trailblazer, a tireless advocate for artists, and a beloved friend to all of us here at the station, she was truly one of a kind.

No one has ever performed on as many Opry shows as Jeannie did, and no one likely ever will. She brought heart and humor to every performance, and her presence on the stage was as warm as it was powerful.

Today, we remember her incredible talent, her bold spirit, and her lifelong dedication to country music. Thank you, Jeannie, for the songs, the stories, and the love you shared so generously.

Our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and fans around the world.

Rest easy, Miss Country Soul. The circle will never be broken.

A Bird in the Ditch is Worth Two in the Bush

Although many were thrilled to hear the mysterious yellow twine stretching across Carolina was not the county shooting a line to move the road or an alien deposit, the comments on our post beckoned, "What about that bird on Dozier Road?"

Well, Mr. Scotty Dozier ran across the feathered foul while busghogging the ditch in front of the late father's barn. Not wishing to remove the bird from it's natural habitat, Mr. Dozier simply perched it on the roadside.

No one knows exactly how our pink pal came to reside there.

Could it have been one of the many items that fell from the skies during the 2011 tornadoes?

Did it fall off someone's truckload of yardsale donations?

Was it one of Blake family's Flamingos of bygone days that possibly fell prey to canine thievery?

No one knows.

Nevertheless, she stands tall with a smile for passersby leaving us weaving an important life lesson into this tale...

When someone gives you a bird, just keep on smiling.

The Great Carolina Yellow Twine Mystery Solved

Nearly three miles of bright yellow twine stretching from Highway 371 to the heart of Carolina has captured the attention of all Carolinian's who were coming and going (and visitors alike) in recent days.

Just this morning Tommy Blake has identified it as "baling twine." Being the miser and collector of all things possibly needed until the rapture, he's stockpiling some of it for historical purposes or to be used at a later date.

On the other hand, there's a farmer somewhere that arrived at his hay baling destination and said to himself, "I could've swore I loaded that yellow twine."

Whine not over spilled twine. Better days lay ahead.
