Our community is still reeling from the fire, but we're feeling more thankful than ever for the people who make Nederland such a special place.

We're back in session at Chinook West, the Teen Center, and New Explorers Learning Center, but we'll be closed early next week for Fall Break.

We're looking forward to Halloween Baking, Spooky Movie Night, a Costume Party, and of course Halloween Ned on Saturday, 10/25.

Please take an extra moment today to hug a loved one or thank a fire fighter!

TEENS, Inc. Closure Notice

Due to the devastating fire at the Shopping Plaza in Nederland last night, all TEENS, Inc. activities are closed today.

Our hearts go out to the local businesses and community members affected by the fire—many of whom have been steadfast supporters of TEENS, Inc. over the years.

Thankfully, the fire did not spread further and active flames have subsided, but the air quality remains degraded. We are grateful for our first responders!

In moments like this, let’s come together as a community to care for one another and support those who are hurting. ❤️

I hope you are staying warm despite the snow! We are reflecting on the fun times the youth had rock climbing.

We had a blast climbing in Boulder Canyon over the past few weeks! We explored crags like The Riviera, Nip and Tuck, and Nursing Home while developing our belaying and climbing movement skills. The afternoon storms couldn't hold us back either - we had a great time at our local gym, Dino Moves, trying out some harder boulders, aerial silks, and juggling!

Also, we still have two spots open in our Thanksgiving Trip to Lake Sylvan State Park. The trip runs November 22-25. Check out this link for more information:

A couple of Chinook West students attending the culinary arts program at Apex were featured in the BVSD newsletter.

They are shown here preparing food with Chef Hosea Rosenberg (owner and founder of Blackbelly Market & Restaurant and Top Chef winner), who "visited the BVSD Culinary Center to collaborate on the menu his team and the Apex Culinary students served together at the Denver Food and Wine Festival on September 6."

Both students are loving their program, and their teacher has expressed their joy of having them in her class. Keep up the great work, CW students -- next time, make enough to share with the rest of us! 😜

Research shows that when parents take care of their own mental health, children thrive... In fact, the U.S. Surgeon General in 2024 issued a public health advisory highlighting the importance of parental mental health, noting that strong, supported parents are better able to nurture resilient, healthy children. Come spend the evening with us learning some simple, practical ways to prioritize your own well-being while strengthening your family.
