🌸💕 Why do we harvest peonies at the “marshmallow stage”? 💕🌸

When a peony bloom feels soft like a marshmallow, that’s the perfect time to harvest! ✨

Harvesting at this stage allows the blooms to continue opening beautifully at home, gives them a longer vase life, and helps create those full, fluffy bouquets everyone loves. 💐

That’s exactly how we harvest our peonies here at Virginia Gold Heritage Farms to make fresh, beautiful bouquets for you to enjoy!

We are SO thankful for all the wonderful people who came out today during the Natural Bridge Farmers Market and took home a bundle of peonies! 🌸❤️

🌸Peony Season is Here… and they are going FAST!🌸

We will have a limited number of fresh peony bouquets available today Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th at Virginia Gold Heritage Farms!

Honestly, it seems like some of you have a sixth sense for when these beautiful blooms are harvested because they never stay on the shelf for long — and we LOVE that! 🌸✨

Happy Earth Day from Virginia Gold Heritage Farms 🌎💚

There’s nothing better than getting your hands a little dirty and celebrating the beauty of the season together. This past weekend, we loved seeing everyone bring their creativity to life—painting terracotta pots, planting seeds, and taking home a little piece of the farm to grow 🌱

Meanwhile, spring is truly in motion all around us… our pear trees are setting fruit and growing, the peonies are starting to bloom, and our IPP and Dutch Belted cows are soaking up the sunshine and fresh green grass ☀️🌿

Thank you for spending Earth Day with us and for supporting local, sustainable farming. We can’t wait to see your plants grow!
