September, I’m not ready for pumpkin yet. 😆

There’s still a little summer left on the table.
So we’re keeping the peaches and changing the pour.

🥃 Bourbon Peach Smash
🍑 Bourbon-glazed pork tenderloin + charred peaches

Save this one for the first evening that feels just a little cooler.

You don’t have to choose one over the other, you can have it all, and you don’t need to feel guilty for any of it, especially what you’ve earned. 🥂

Straight to work without pouring into myself first doesn’t produce the best me. My 10 hour job requires a 6:30 AM start which is about the time I used to take my morning walks.

Nowadays, I have to make a conscious decision to get up a little bit earlier for the perfect start of my day.

Movement,
Nourishment,
Care.

Some days I feel like the sky is personally painted just for me to admire. My spirit appreciates feeling like I’ve actually accomplished something just for me.

I kept saving the good w**e for special occasions… until I realized I wasn’t having enough special occasions.

The thing about my w**e journey is, I come across some lovely bottles. 🍾 As a result, I tend to store away my favorites and last run vintages. Then my husband started volunteering MY w**e to give a Christmas presents to HIS coworkers. He’d then come back and tell me how much they enjoyed the bottles that I canNOT ever replace. 😡 But here’s the thing 👉🏼 I had not enjoyed them. 😔

Frustration became REAL. I am not having enough “special occasions” in my life. And I’m not spending enough time with people whom would enjoy them with me. 😔

It was never about the w**e.

Now I pick a date and make it special.

I’m 51 and I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that…

1. I’m proud of everything I’ve accomplished, but I still sometimes downplay them so I don’t make other people uncomfortable.

2. I’ve led people and made major decisions for years, but I still worry about disappointing people when I say ‘No’.

3. I’m naturally outgoing and can talk to almost anybody, but I still care more than I’d like to admit about whether my friendliness is genuinely received.

4. I have a good life and I still want more from it. Not necessarily more things. More experiences, more discovery, more reasons to be amazed.

5. Sometimes I genuinely have trouble understanding people who don’t seem curious about what else their life could become.

6. I’m incredibly creative, but sometimes the number of things I want to make and build overwhelms me so much that I have a hard time starting.

7. I’m very self-sufficient, but sometimes I still want someone else to tell me that the thing I want to do makes sense before I do it.

8. I love encouraging people. But because I often read into their potential, I’m often disappointed when they don’t see it too.

I’m still learning and growing out of my own way.

Tell me I’m not the only one.

Apparently, brunch is what we’re eating tonight. 😆

I’d been working with Lemon Ricotta Pancakes inside What Are We Eating Tonight?, so when they showed up on a menu in San Antonio, I ordered them. (Twice 🤫)

And Hun… 😂

Thick, fluffy pancakes with powdered sugar and fresh berries. But one of my favorite details was something incredibly simple: the syrup and lemon curd were served separately.

I could make one bite sweeter. The next more lemony. Or leave the pancake alone and just enjoy it. 😋

Little detail. Better experience.

And because WAWET doesn’t stop with the plate, the Signature Sip pairing is a French 75. 🍋🥂

The lemon connects beautifully with the pancakes, while the bubbles give all that creamy ricotta richness a little lift.

Maybe brunch doesn’t need a curfew after all. 😆
