It all begins with a vision! When you work with us, you have the opportunity to work side by side with our designer to create the gown of your dreams.

Every Modern Trousseau gown begins with a sketch, that is brought to life and tailored to perfection in our Connecticut atelier.

Starting with a plain cotton mockup of the dress (referred to as a muslin), our talented design team makes each dress to the bride’s exact measurements.

After the design is perfectly fitted, the dress is made with luxurious Italian fabrics and French lace. Every Modern Trousseau dress is handcrafted with love in Woodbridge, CT to turn dreams into reality.

Our bride, Leigh met with Modern Trousseau designer, Callie Tein in May to start talking about her dress. At her first appointment, she wore the top of Gracie, a dress she loved the shape of, and the bottom of Allegra, one she loved the material of. Seeing these two pieces come together was when she knew she had to create her custom gown!

Next, was her muslin fitting. This is a plain cotton fabric that serves as a prototype of the dress made. Here we discussed customizations and got the perfect fit before cutting into the fabric for Leigh's dress.

At her last appointment, we made some minor adjustments to the back to make it more comfortable and Monika did some other small alterations to make the fit perfect!

The Allegra material also has pink flowers in it, and we placed them individually at this appointment to make sure there was the right amount!

Designer Callie Tein has been in love with fashion since her childhood in Melbourne, Australia, where her mum’s evening wear was given new life in the fashion shows Callie would put on, modeling the sixties- and seventies-era pieces. Callie marked important life events by the fashion that was associated with them: her first pair of high heels, her prom dress, and of course — her wedding gown.

She has set the standard of nothing-less-than-perfect for every Modern Trousseau gown, as she believes that when a bride remembers her wedding day, she should recall looking and feeling gorgeous.
