Job Title: Technical Director Consultant (Live Entertainment / Cirque & Spectacle)
Location: West Coast, USA (California, Nevada, Arizona preferred)
Engagement Type: Contract / Consultant
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Director Consultant to support the development and ex*****on of large-scale live entertainment productions. This role is ideal for someone with strong expertise in cirque-style acts, flying systems, and theatrical special effects, combined with a creative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee rigging, automation, special effects, and staging
Align technical ex*****on with the creative vision
Ensure safety standards and best practices are met
Coordinate with vendors and internal teams
Troubleshoot technical challenges in real time
Assist with budgeting and equipment decisions
Contribute creative ideas to elevate the overall experience
Qualifications
Experience as a Technical Director or Senior Consultant in live entertainment, cirque, theme parks, or touring productions
Strong knowledge of aerial rigging, flying systems, and safety protocols
Experience with special effects (pyro, lasers, atmospherics, projection, automation)
Background working with cirque and specialty acts
Ability to translate creative concepts into technical ex*****on
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of rigging standards and safety regulations
Preferred
West Coast–based (CA, NV, AZ preferred)
Experience in theme parks or immersive entertainment
Familiarity with show control or automation systems
Network of vendors and technical specialists
