City’s GenXpo event reaps donation for senior center
NASHUA – This week, a donation was presented to the Nashua Senior Activity Center on behalf of the GenXpo, an event organized by the City of Nashua’s Economic Development office.
The GenXpo was aimed toward those age 50 and better, featuring dozens of vendors and service providers with offerings geared toward those demographics – Gen Xers, Baby Boomers, and beyond. It was held at the Nashua Center for the Arts on March 2nd.
After expenses, the organizers netted approximately $763 in total, all of which was donated to the Nashua Senior Activity Center. “We are thrilled to receive this donation,” said Margo Bell, Executive Director of the center. “As a nonprofit, we rely on support from our community, so that we can better serve Nashua area seniors with our programming."
This donation will be put to use to defray costs for the center’s third annual Kickoff to Summer Barbecue on June 19. “Several years ago, we replaced the annual senior picnic at Alpine Grove with a barbecue at the Nashua Senior Activity Center, as a way to keep the event cost-effective,” said Judy Porter, Development Director for the center. “In light of ever-increasing food costs, this donation will allow us to keep the ticket price at a very reasonable level for seniors. The event features not only great food but also great entertainment.”
The GenXpo organizers thank Silverstone Living (Hunt Community and The Huntington at Nashua), Southern New Hampshire Health and AARP NH for being the sponsors of this event.
