Floating orb lights can set the mood for a great evening by a pond or pool. Start with white lights to create a quiet and relaxed feeling for a ceremony or reception then switch it up and use bright, multi-colored lights that change colors for a disco effect for dancing later in the evening. Tip: Make sure to weight them to the bottom or they will float together and settle in a bunch in the corner. I learned the hard way the first time. . @ Naples Botanical Garden

This set up was for a “surprise“ 80th birthday party. Planning had a few challenges as the client wanted everything top secret so no calls or emails, just secret planning meetings. I’m not really sure how they managed to not spoil the surprise but 60 guests showed up to surprise the birthday girl! It was exciting to see the look on her face when she realized everyone was there for her. @ Naples Botanical Garden

I love planning destination weddings for couples who live from afar. Even though this bride didn’t live in Naples it was so easy to work with her. She was a girl who knew exactly what she wanted. Kerri loved sunflowers 🌻 so incorporating these yellow flowers made a bright contrast against navy linens, gold chargers and chivari chairs. The backdrop for this outdoor garden wedding was set under a pergola filled with hanging Queens Wreath and string lights. Let’s just say there was a beautiful ambience after the sun went down. Planning a design and layout around tent poles can sometimes be a challenge. The creative trovatoeventfloraldesign proposed an amazing idea to turn the tent poles into trees with twinkle lights. I had never seen this idea before but I knew this was going to take this wedding from pretty status to Over the Top status ! Pictures honestly don’t do this wedding justice. It looked like an Enchanted Forest.

This wedding will go down in my book as the longest set up for sure! The set up began 5 days before the wedding and the guys who made these amazing trees (which were real hollowed out tree trunks) drove down from Michigan to Naples to assemble them. They worked every day into the night, literally up until a few hours the day of the wedding before guest arrival. There were so many moving parts and vendors to manage for this set up.. it really did take a small army to make this wedding happen. 3 different locations were utilized for the ceremony, cocktail, & reception. I was very fortunate to have another planner to work with who managed the wedding party and design. Wedding day was an 18 hour day for me..my feet definitely felt that one the next day. I started my wedding & event career at Naples Botanical Garden, with a dual role as the on-site venue manager and wedding & event planner for over 5 years. I had the opportunity to plan every type of event under the stars..literally. The Beautiful outdoor surroundings at the garden made it a favorite for weddings.
The Mosaic Garden, pictured above was not open to the public, so I often referred to it as the Secret Garden. For years, I tried to sell brides on this spot and I finally had the opportunity. This wedding had such a WOW factor. Set on a beautiful walkway lined with giant palms and flowers. This was one of the most impactful weddings I ever designed and I still love looking at pictures of this unique set up after all these years. Nature never goes out of style. @ Naples Botanical Garden

As a wedding professional, you never forget your first bride. Everything was a first for me...first tasting...first mock set up...first rehearsal...first wedding. Not only did this bride make planning this wedding fun but she had NO idea this was my first wedding. I knew if I showed confidence in what I was doing then she would trust me. Google was my best friend at the time. I still remember googling “How to line up the wedding party for the processional”. I’ve come a long way since that wedding and I have learned so much! After all these years, November 9, 2013, to be exact, I still have the sweet thank you card the bride wrote me after the wedding.
