Let’s talk about air plants! Air plants are epiphytic plants that gather nutrients from the air rather than the soil. Not only can they be grown on trees in the landscape but driftwood, or textured surfaces. Many varieties will also bloom year after year!

Our bug of the month is the Sphinx Moth! We are covering three different types of Sphinx Moth today, including the Fig Sphinx that pollinates the Ghost Orchid. Unfortunately, this is the end of our Florida Native month and the last native video we will be doing for a while, but stay tuned for more gardening content and plenty more bugs! Our last Florida native plant of the week is the Peperomia obtusifolia! This native makes a great shady ground cover or house plant. They will also produce a unique bloom. Our last ecosystem for native plant month is the Hardwood Hammocks! This is a more uncommon ecosystem found primarily in the southern parts of the state. Hardwood Hammocks are typically higher in elevation and can have much cooler temperatures due to the dense trees and bushes.
