Y'Anad's dedication to service is reflected in her civic leadership: she was appointed to serve on the Contra Costa County Behavioral Health Board, chairs the Government Relations Commission for the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, and has been a member of the Path to Clean Air Community Steering Committee for Richmond, North Richmond, and San Pablo since 2020. Additionally, Y’Anad’s previous public service included serving as Former Commissioner, Richmond Advisory Housing Commission; Former Advisory Board Member, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area; and Former Communications Co-Chair, Healthy Contra Costa. Y’Anad’s academic journey is equally dynamic. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, dual Master’s degrees in public administration and healthcare administration and she is on track to earn her doctorate in Transformative Social Change from Saybrook University in May 2026. Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, Y’Anad finds joy in reading, journaling, and traveling—practices that fuel her creativity and deepen her commitment to systemic change.
