Charlene, The Flower Truck

Charlene, The Flower Truck Charlene is a 1953 Chevy pickup and family member at Nantucket Wildflower Farm. She summers on Main

Charlene was born in the aftermath of war when America was at the top of her game. She’s strong, she’s beautiful, she worked right and she still does. Charlene is a queen, a bodacious, beautiful broad of pickup trucks. She is the Marilyn Monroe of the truck stop, with her curvy hips swaying along. She is an American original who deserves to keep on truckin’ for another decade or two.

First published for the September 4, 1943 cover of The Saturday Evening Post, Norman Rockwell’s Liberty Girl celebrated the American working woman, effectively illustrating the wide range of jobs and new roles they inherited during wartime.

Friends
The most beautiful Truck in the world. Love of my life, Sweet Sister, purring Mamma has been adopted today. It is an "open adoption" I will still be able to drive her, to hug her, to love her, but she will be with a family who will also love and hug her and know how to properly care for her. Can fix her rust, keep her engine tuned to that sweet song, and some sweet young men who will have the opportunity to learn what a Real vehicle is. One with a Soul, who speaks to you. At 68 years old she will be receiving some transplants of the right kind & much needed body work.
In her honor: our video from a few years back.

Charlene has retired as of September of 2019. Some flowers are still available at her Farm - I post that when they are. Lilacs in Spring and Dahlia in late summer mostly.

How many Flower Girls out there miss this image of our 8am morning drive?
