Had a great weekend at War in the North in St. Paul! Huge thanks to the Twin Cities Wyverns and Jeff Sorlie for putting on such a classic Medieval Combat USA event. I got to help out with the marshal crew, trained with Joey from the Chicago Hydras Buhurt Fight Club, and watched Kevin Oliver fight with the Milwaukee Iron Stags Armored Combat.

Kevin Kevin Oliver trains with both the Stags and us at the Raven’s Nest, and he’s always supported both groups' events. It’s always awesome seeing familiar faces and growing our community in the sport. ⚔️

TRIALS OF STEEL I ⚔️

The first Trials of Steel is in the books!

We had buckler and longsword duels, multiple Outrance matches, dual wield, an outnumbered 2v3, Marco Polo, and finally a free-for-all to close out the night.

These are exhibition fights, so the real victory is getting fighters in armor, giving people different ways to test themselves, and putting on a hell of a show for everyone who came out to support us.

More importantly, you helped us keep fighting for something bigger than ourselves.

$90.49 from ticket sales went toward Rett Syndrome research, we received an additional $100 direct donation, and Raven’s Nest added our $20 in merchandise sales and rounded everything up to make a $220 donation to our GoFundMe fundraiser.

That puts us at more than $720 raised this year for the Rett Syndrome Research Trust

Thank you to the fighters, crew, volunteers, spectators, and everyone who has donated or helped spread the word. Every show is another opportunity to build this community and do some good while we’re at it.
