As many of you know, my father, DJ/KJ Steve Hasty — one of the administrators of this page — recently passed away. This was more than just a profession for him; it was his passion, his joy, and his way of bringing people together.

Because of that, I wanted to reach out to all of you first — the friends, singers, and fellow hosts who shared in what he loved most. Before I consider selling his equipment elsewhere, I’d love to see it stay within this community, where it belongs. It would mean a lot to know that it’s being used by people who knew him and understood the energy he brought to every event and will carry on that same spirit.

My dad poured his heart into this, and over the years he built up an incredible catalog of music and collection of equipment. There’s just about everything you could imagine — full sound systems, speakers, subwoofers, speaker stands, lighting rigs, fog machines, wireless and wired microphones, mic stands, multiple mixing boards, laptops, and endless amounts of XLR cables, power cords, adapters, splitters, splicers, and more. Whether you’re a DJ, KJ, or just someone looking to keep the music alive, I’d love to see this equipment stay in the community and continue to bring people together, just like he always did.

I haven’t yet decided exactly how to go about this — whether to set aside a day for everyone to come by and see what they need, or to go through messages individually based on what you’re looking for. Either way, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re interested. I am personally in town this week and would be happy to meet.

It is with deep sadness that I share the news of my father, Steve Hasty’s, sudden and unexpected passing.

As many of you know, he was the heart and soul behind this business — the sole owner and operator. He poured his passion into every event, and this was truly his life’s work. There are no associates or employees able to step up and continue the business in his absence.

To the brides and clients with upcoming events, if you have not yet been contacted or have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. I would be more than happy to assist in any way I can and connect you with other trusted DJ colleagues my dad worked alongside over the years.

When planning a Prom - if you want someone who will Play FUN - Clean Music and not worry about all the filthy language being played - we would love to help you have a Classy Event! I can’t believe all the complaints I hear from teachers and staff about DJ who play explicit music for a Prom.

A common misconception is that because our name has the word "Soul" in it, we only do southern/soul food. When actually, that is only one out of the MANY menus we take inspiration from and build on. Uplights can reslly add a nice touch to a blank wall and is the least expensive way to decorate a blank space.

Our Uplighting package starts at $200 and can help transform in room. The illumination from the Uplights also allows us to turn down the overhead lights during the times for dancing and still maintain safety in the room for people to be able to walk around “in the dark”.

Another awesome wedding in the Books! It was an honor to DJ for Austin and Abbey under a clear top tent on a beautiful family farm in Lascassas on 221001

The ceremony was short and sweet as the wedding party walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of “Better Together” by Luke Combs and I faded in the words right as the bride hit the back of the aisle.

Right before the toasts began, the Father of the Bride and I discovered we went to High School together and he sang with the Riverdale Singers while I played on the same stage right behind him in the Riverdale Stage Band.

The newly weds danced their first dance to “Tennessee Whiskey” where we invited the 8x8 wedding party and parents to join in halfway through which started off the night with a full dance floor that stayed packed all night long.

We did a variation of the “Honeymoon Dance” that I’d never tried before where we had all the guest surround the dance floor and the Bride & Groom went around and around picking up a new guest to dance with for a trip around the dance floor. The guest really enjoyed those private moments with the bride and groom.

It was the first time in over 2,000 weddings that “Sweet Pea” by Amos Lee was used for the Father / Daughter dance, and it was the perfect song for this Bride and her Dad had a fun time. twirling around the dance floor, I later found out that MC HAmmer ”Can’t Touch This” was truly one of their favorite song to dance to - which the entire guests had a blast jumping in.

This was definitely one of the most awesome group of wedding guest who kept the dance floor packed with every song, and even a couple of group singalongs that really made this wedding an awesome party!

We ended the night with a nice couples dance to “Thinking Out Loud” before we dismissed the guest over to the exit area for a Goodbye Line . . . while the Bride and Groom snuck in one last private moment on the dance floor with “At Last” by Etta James!

I was honored by a couple of compliments afterward . . . one guest who I know casually through a networking group, who had never seen me DJ before, came up at the end of the night and said : “you totally rocked it!” . . . but perhaps one of the best compliments I’ve ever gotten came from the grandmother of the groom who told me at the end of the night when all was tore down: “Everyone had a great time tonight with all of the great dance music you played. You picked really good songs that everyone could dance to and none of us older folks were embarrassed by anyone grinding on the dance floor”.

I’m always honored when the newly weds take a moment for a personal thank you, and they came up together at the very end of the night to say they had received many compliments from their guests and they had so much fun at their own wedding that they couldn’t even remember any of the songs that were played, but just remembered that the dance floor was packed full all night long.

It’s times like this that I wish there was a videographer there that could give me a few video clips to attach, but this is exactly why I love what I do so much!
