Founded in 2008, Upstate Production Services, Inc., supports the movement to decentralize New York State’s cultural landscape. After many years of service in the Entertainment Industry, we strive to dedicate ourselves to the cultivation, production and management of high quality Arts and Events outside major urban areas. We believe that the magical landscape of the Central New York Region can prov

ide tremendous inspiration for the creation and enjoyment of new work in the fine and performing arts. At UPSI, we foster the creation process by providing artist residency, rehearsal and performance space at the 200-year old decommissioned Baptist Church in Mount Vision that we purchased in 2004 and at our 32-acre property in Westford. We facilitate additional performances and events through our theater and event production services, fabricating in our fully-outfitted metal and woodworking shop.

The Visionary Dance Festival TONIGHT

Presents artist in residence 🎭

Beatriz Castro (she/they) is a latinx, q***r movement artist from Costa Rica, currently based in NYC. Beatriz has been a member of Spark Movement Collective, Faustine Lavie Dance Project and Verbal Animal, while also working with Antonin Rioche, Catherine Cabeen, David Dorfman Dance and her friends. They appeared in HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness and the ONxMoMA PS1 campaign under the movement direction of Damani Pompey. Acting credits include Matthew Gasda’s Dimes Square and Invulnerable Nothing’s Barn Lab Residency under the direction of C.C. Kellogg. Internationally, she has performed self-choreographed work at the longest-running contemporary dance event in Costa Rica. They have also presented their choreography at Abrons Arts Center, Triskelion Arts, Arts On Site, The Mark O’Donnell Theater, and Dixon Place. Beatriz has been awarded residencies for the exploration and development of new work through the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, MOtiVE Brooklyn, and Pepatián: Bronx Arts ColLABorative.
