Looks like our ranunculus flush will just miss Mother’s Day, but is right on time for market season!

Today was spent with a quick w**d attack, another second dahlia row in the ground, and a mini harvest!

More small steps forward:

- 1 row of dahlias in the ground
- Half a bed of annuals planted
- Ranunculus w**ded and fertilized
- Mini anemone harvest as a reward

Trying to remember the small wins add up to a beautiful season!

First handful of the season 💗

Spring has finally arrived in the valley!

Made out to the farm for some small steps forward in season and was pleased to find the anemones are starting to bloom.

The flowers will be popping for Mother’s Day!

Small steps forward towards a beautiful spring.

A row of sweet peas are in the ground, with more still to come. Feels like we are right around the corner from an ideal planting window.

This Skagit ground has been too wet for work, so we are taking baby steps to juggle the task of protecting the soil’s integrity, while trying to keep a planting schedule.

Two growing seasons are never the same, Mother Nature likes to keep us on our toes.

I am quite ready to see some blooms.

March is the month of madness — seeds everywhere, trays to water, and all the things from last year’s “I’ll deal with that later” list suddenly showing up again.

And because I’m also a teacher, apparently March is just chaos in every part of life.

But flower friends (and honestly I’m saying this mostly to myself), keep pushing through. Blooms — and hands back in the dirt — are ahead.

Soon…I am very much looking forward to the early morning and evening harvests to come.

This has been a hard spring planting season— flooded rows, wet days, over-grown starts, and full-time teaching on top of it all!

I am happy to say the ranunculus are beginning to bounce back and are FINALLY in a growing stage that I feel satisfied with. Get ready to go ranunculus crazy with me this May and June!

If you’re itching to grow your own ranunculus DM me, I have potted ranunculus and corms for sale!

I’m not an expert — I’m a grower figuring it out in real time.

This year, I’ll be sharing a monthly YouTube video to document the behind-the-scenes of FlowerFunk — the wins, the mistakes, the muddy boots, and everything in between.

Farming online can look very put together. In real life, it’s a lot of adjusting, waiting on the weather, reworking plans, and doing your best with the time and energy you actually have. It’s not always seamless — but it’s real.

That’s what this space is meant to be.

If you’re growing something — flowers, a business, or a dream — I hope you’ll follow along.

Live funky, bloom boldly.

Annnnnndd let the seed start season begin! Scabiosa will be the next round of seeds to be plopped in the soil this week.

These wispy stems add a little sprinkle of magic to every bouquet!

Bit by bit, and row by row, the farm is coming back together! Balancing full time teaching and farming isn’t easy and I’m very driven to plant beauty both inside and out.

Thank you everyone for all your support and for believing in this funky farm as much as I do! ❤️
