Hi, September 👋🏼

We’re Alexis (she/her) + Katrina (she/her), married, q***r, and the two humans behind A+K Photography. 🖤

We photograph weddings throughout Seattle and the PNW, with one big goal: making sure your photos actually feel like you.

We love breaking traditions. Not overly posed. Not built around rules you don’t care about. And definitely not asking you to shrink any part of yourself to fit what a wedding is “supposed” to look like.

We’re here for the big feelings, chosen family, loud laughs, quiet moments, killer outfits, and all the weird little in-between stuff.

Your wedding doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s. It just needs to feel like yours.

Wedding vendors: not every person standing beside a couple is a bridesmaid or a groomsman.

Some wedding parties include people of multiple genders. Some use titles like attendant, person of honor, best person, or something completely their own. Some couples do not divide their people into “sides” at all.

The easiest thing to do? Ask what language they use, write it down, and use it consistently.

No one should have to spend their wedding day correcting the professionals they hired about who they are or how they fit into the celebration.

Inclusive language is a small effort that can make a huge difference in how safe, respected, and seen someone feels.

Happy National Dog Day to our in-house security team, emotional support department, and official post-wedding decompression crew. 🐾

Our pups may not answer emails or help edit galleries, but they do make sure we take breaks, go outside, and never eat a snack alone.

We are living a life women before us were told not to want, and q***r women were told not to imagine.

We are married. We own a business together. We get to build a life on our own terms and make a living telling love stories that have not always been welcomed, protected, or even acknowledged.

That freedom did not appear on its own. It exists because generations of women fought, organized, spoke up, and refused to accept less.

And the work is not finished.

Equality that excludes q***r women, trans women, women of color, disabled women, immigrant women, or anyone pushed to the margins is not equality.

So today, we are not only celebrating how far we have come. We are honoring the people who got us here and staying loud about how far there is still to go.

Planning a 2027 wedding? Come say hi! 💌

You do not need a perfect timeline, a finished Pinterest board, or every detail decided. We want to hear about the two of you, the people you love, and what you want the day to feel like.

We photograph weddings for people who care more about being present than performing. The big feelings, the chaos, the quiet, the chosen family, and the weird little moments that end up meaning everything; we’re there for all of it.

How we get the shot vs. what it actually looks like behind the scenes.

Usually Katrina (she/her) is the one launching veils and dress trains into the air, but Chris (he/him) absolutely took the cake during Katie (she/her) + Jay’s (he/him) portraits.

The commitment. The form. The dramatic follow-through. A true professional.

Wedding traditions are options, not assignments.

Keep the ones that feel meaningful. Change the ones that almost fit. Skip the ones that make you wonder why you’re doing them in the first place.

Walk down the aisle together. Get ready in the same room. Build a wedding party that isn’t divided by gender. Trade a traditional bouquet toss for something that actually feels fun. Create a new ritual that belongs only to the two of you.

Especially for q***r couples, weddings can come with a lot of traditions that were never built with us in mind. You do not have to squeeze yourselves into them.

Your wedding is allowed to look, feel, and sound like you. That’s the whole point. 🌈

Working weddings with your wife means having someone who can read your mind from across the room, knows exactly when you need a fresh battery, and will always tell you when your camera harness is sitting weird.

It also means getting to witness beautiful, deeply personal moments together, and then talking about them the entire drive home.

We feel pretty lucky that this is our job and that we get to do it side by side. 💛

Chris (he/him) + Kyle (he/him) sent us the Ember & Ice photos as inspiration and we immediately screamed.

Then they took the vision even further: they tracked down the artist who created the wings for Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie’s shoot and commissioned their own custom fairy wings. Because apparently coming up with an iconic idea wasn’t enough; they were going to fully commit to the fantasy.

The result was dramatic, romantic, and otherworldly. This was more than an engagement session. It was a full q***r fairy moment, and we will never be over it.
