I’ve been waiting years for this moment. I am so elated to say that our herb farm is now Certified Organic!
From Day One we have managed our entire farm using organic practices and we have been in the process of certifying our farm as organic for the past four years. Since our farmland was previously farmed conventionally we had to wait a full 36 months from the last application of a synthetic fertilizer on the land where we now grow our herbs before we were eligible to become Certified Organic. That time has passed and our soil has been enriched with a huge diversity of growing plants, lots of compost, cover crops, and low-till soil preparations.
Organic means:
- Our crops are grown without the use of harmful pesticides, herbicides, or chemicals. If we need to address pest or disease issues, we use only the products and substances approved for organic use by the National Organic Program.
- We never use synthetic, non-GMO, or non-naturally derived substances.
- We source organic seeds, potting mix, fertilizer, amendments, and any other inputs used on the farm.
Beyond being organic, we farm with the goal of growing the most healthful plants in biologically active soil in a dynamic ecosystem. We will always grow everything chemical-free and with the health of people, plants, and the environment top of mind. We will always advocate for organic management of land and gardens. The fewer harmful chemicals in our ecosystem, in our water, and in our bodies - the better.
This has been a big endeavor and it wouldn’t be possible without your continued support of our farm. To celebrate this big achievement, we’re offering 15% off our herbal teas and spice blends through the weekend. Use code ‘organic’ at checkout - code will be valid until 11:59pm CST on Wednesday, July 23rd. Help us make way for our newly Certified Organic crops and get us closer to creating fully Certified Organic products!
