Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the resilience, faith and determination that are hallmarks of the Hispanic community. For Martina Ramirez, neurology clinic and stroke program manager, these values shape the way she leads, cares for patients and supports those around her. “I know what it feels like to be the newcomer, to struggle with a language, to have very little and to face obstacles that seem overwhelming. Those experiences have taught me to listen carefully, be patient and never make assumptions about what someone else may be going through.” Inspired by her journey from Mexico to the United States, the sacrifices of her parents and the belief in familismo, Martina brings compassion, humility and perseverance to every interaction. Her experiences remind her that every person has a story that matters, and she strives to ensure patients, families and colleagues feel seen, valued and supported.
