🚨NEW MJM PRINCIPAL! 🐻

We’re excited to announce that Mr. Lee Nachand has been named as the new Mt. Juliet Middle School Principal for the 2024-2025 school year.

He will take over for Dr. Candis Angle, as she announced her retirement during this past school year.

Mr. Nachand doesn’t have to go too far for his new position! He spent the last three years serving as an assistant principal at Green Hill High School.

“My appreciation for this area’s involvement continues to grow. Watching how dedicated the MJM staff and community have been as the middle school navigated multiple buildings led to my interest in pursuing this opportunity,” said Mr. Nachand. “I look forward to working with the MJM students, staff and parents.”

MJM has shared their home since the March 2020 tornado, mostly with West Wilson Middle. Next school year that comes to an end as WWM is ready to return home to their brand new building.

“The vision for the school’s future is to continue to build on the Mt. Juliet traditions, connect to the community as we shift back under one roof and to have a safe, engaging and fun school environment as we help students grow as they transition from elementary to high school.”

With MJM currently enjoying lots of academic success, Mr. Nachand wants to keep that momentum going strong.

“An academic playbook has been established by Dr. Angle and the current staff. While we will make small adjustments for the incoming students, we will continue to model the strategies that have been proven to work. As we will finalize future hires, I am excited and eager to work with the current staff and learn from their successes.”

He's proven to be a strong administrative leader throughout his career, and looks to implement that experience into his new role.

“I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science and from Trevecca Nazarene University with a Masters in Ed. Leadership. I’ve worked in education for twenty years in both the Virginia Beach and Middle Tennessee area. I’ve been a Dean of Students, assistant principal in a nearby district and in Wilson County for the last 11 years. I have a background in athletics, school safety, school-wide restorative practices, school-wide interventions and advanced placement courses.”

Director of Schools Jeff Luttrell is looking forward to this handoff from Dr. Angle to Mr. Nachand saying, “For all the dedicated and strong leadership that Dr. Angle provided for Mt. Juliet Middle, I feel very confident that Mr. Nachand will come right into this position and be a tremendous impact for students, teachers, staff and families with MJM.”

“His wide range of experience and familiarity with our district and Mt. Juliet Middle weighed heavily through the process and he’s going to do a wonderful job.” 💫

5th grade parent night tonight is cancelled and will be rescheduled for July. We have too many people involved who cannot be here tonight due to flooding and storm damage at their homes. This also allows time for Boger Construction to renovate our gym lobby and classrooms so families can see our school at its best! 🐻
