Mt. Gretna, the Pennsylvania Chautauqua

Mt. Gretna, the Pennsylvania Chautauqua Founded in 1892, Mt. Gretna is a historic Chautauqua community where arts, culture, and nature meet.

From performances and lectures to trails and cottages, it remains a place of creativity and connection. Teddy Roosevelt said that the concept of Chautauqua is "the most American thing in America." Originally starting as a movement to educate Sunday School and public school teachers in the summers, programs were built on the four pillars of Chautauqua: recreation, religion, education and the arts.

PROGRAM UPDATE: A reminder that the event "A River That Built America" is scheduled for this Friday, June 19th at 7 PM. This differs from the date in the Arts Council Summer Booklet, which INCORRECTLY lists the event for June 17th.
