Mount Carmel: From Coal to Culture and we are proud to be apart of this revival. We sold everything and left Maryland to follow the vision that was even bigger than us-purpose & community. When we landed in Mount Carmel, we saw more than a small coal town we saw possibility and what this town deserved to be again and what God desires for it.
Once one of Pennsylvania busiest places to shop. With other believers, Mount Carmel will thrive! GHOP is more than just a building its a vision, its soulful hub of food, family and faith were the profits of the shops and cafe is channeled back into jobs, and the GHOP community Development Inc. on the upper level. Its where local businesses are growing, neighbors gather under what use to be the banks teller lanes and visitors say
"I can't believe I'm in Mount Carmel" There are many shops in the downtown district to visit Salon 42, Academy Sports Center, Catinos, Cinnamon sticks & More. Come see why many are visiting Mount Carmel again!

Fun Fact: On November 17, 1883, the Edison Electric Illuminating Company of Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania was founded. This was the first isolated electrical plant in the world, meaning that the entirety of Mount Carmel was powered by electricity. 38 arc lamps and 50 incandescent light bulbs were erected in the downtown business district
